MUSIC and LIGHTS! – Here at Audio Gold we love music, both recorded and live, and we love putting on gigs and special events/launches. Gathering a great little crowd, a few drinks,…a few nibbles,…and great music,…what could be better. Below are some recent highlights.
Michael Kiwanuka Live! – We were honoured to have long time customer and local boy Michael come and grace our shop with a spine tingling acoustic solo set. What a treat!
DJ Food – Record Store Day 2019 – we were delighted to have long time friend of the shop Strictly Kev aka DJ Food come and play a special flexi disk set for us on Record Store Day 2019.
WRANGLER & LONE TAXIDERMIST Live – Phil Winter and Ben Edwards gave us a short but beautifully formed half hour of Wrangler magic, that probably caused stress fractures in the building, and definitely put huge grins on everyones faces! Then Lone Taxidermist shook us up with an inglorious set of electropunkfolk of such attitude and raucous Mancunian lip, we thought we’d wormholed to a 1977 college bar. Fantastic and unforgettable. All with magnificent video mapped backgrounds onto some retro Hi-Fi kit.

BEV LEE HARLING Live – A total treat of an evening, 10th May 2012, with Bev Lee Harling and her fantastic band. It was a competition all night to see who looked more delighted, band or audience as Bev typed, chopped & wok’d her very excellent new album out for us all. Her band, tight as a walnut drove on the Herbert like trip rythmes. Take away the visual and you’d never guess that the clipped percussion on Buy Me was a carrot being chopped on a wooden board….!! Genius. Sound and video footage to follow and some stills up on facebook now.
Hallelujah Trails, The Keepsakes & Tate Toussaint – Live – Hallelujah Trails – new bluegrass americana duet of Jeremy Mendonca and Anna Robinson. Hallelujah Trails Facebook. The Keepsakes – ” The Keepsakes are a new alternative folk four-piece from North London, traditional bluegrass folk instruments accompany four part harmonies to create a young contemporary pop/folk sound. Ruth, Natasha, Louis & George are trying to make their mark on London’s music scene.” Keepsakes Facebook. Tate Toussaint, new London Bluesman belying his age with a gravely voice that come from his future, plus deft guitar work he must have started in the cot…. superb treat. Sterling Roswells’ extraordinary evening of psychedelic folk at Audio Gold. “Brilliant show. The shop looked amazing and really complemented the music he was making. He also played my favourite song (Girl From Orbit) and what a wonderful version of I’m On Fire! Sorry I couldn’t make it to the end. I’d promised the girls I’d be back in time to read their bedtime story! ” Pete Paphides
John Blood & the Highlys kick start the Audio Gold shop gig idea with a beautiful heart warming night of soul reggae, creating a vibe so strong it’s never left the shop!
