Linn Sondek LP12 range
Linn Sondek LP12 range
Many people think the greatest turntable of all time. Properly fettled, and placed on a rigid shelf, it’s difficult to disagree. Still manufactured as fundamentally the same thing as when it launched in 1973, the Linn Sondek LP12 is a design classic that sounds amazing
We try to keep a selection of three or four LP12s in stock, some in black and some in afromosia with the brown, fluted plinth. As with all of our secondhand and vintage hifi, they are fully serviced and supplied with a year’s warranty and our support
Our demonstration stock is always fitted with an appropriate cartridge and is ready to take home. Prices depend on specification, cartridge and condition, ranging from around £2,000 to about £5,000. We’re happy to fit your existing cartridge, or to advise on, supply and fit a new one of your choice
Specifications vary from early (red button) 70s examples that we try to keep original, often fitted with an SME 3009 tonearm, through more modern decks with Linn Basik, Akito, Ittok, Ekos or other tonearms, including Audio Origami PU7 or Jelco (available new to order)
By default, we upgrade Valhalla era LP12s with new Hercules power supply boards that improve sound and reliability as well as offering the option of 45rpm. We often have Linn Lingo external power supplies too.
Please contact us for current availability and pricing – part exchange for nice kit always welcomed
If you’d like something similar, that’s a little more affordable, we have the biggest range of fully serviced secondhand turntables in the country, usually including Scottish suspended decks from Ariston and Systemdek, as well as classics from Acoustic Research and Thorens
For more information, try Google(or don't if you want to remain sane), or the following from Vinyl Engine and Stereophile (new tabs). Best option is to give a call or to pop in for a look and a listen
Serviced and setup turntables don’t like being shipped, but we’ll do our best to help – we usually have complete original LP12 packaging available, so shipping is possible, subject to it being partially dismantled and requiring reassembly and set up upon receipt. If you’re in London, safe transit by cab is no problem!
